I was Tagged:

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I prefer wrapping paper, but don't like wrapping odd shaped packages so I bag those.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Ours is artificial and I prefer that. Although the real trees smell wonderful. Random memory: When I was little, we would go to a tree farm as a family and pick out the tree. Cory and I were used as tree markers (so they could remember which ones they liked) while Mom and Dad made the final decision.

3. When do you put up the tree? Thanksgiving evening or the day after...whenever works best. We try and maximize the Christmas season!

4. When do you take the tree down? After our anniversary (Jan 1st)

5. Do you like eggnog? Oh my goodness, NO!

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Baby Talks and a doll stroller

7. Hardest person to buy for? My dad!

8. Easiest person to buy for? Natalie! She is thrilled with anything, even the small toys in happy meals. LOL Mike's parents are fun to shop for as well.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? YES!! It was a Christmas gift from Randy and Dorie last year. It is beautiful. I should post a picture of it.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail. I don't think I've ever received an email Christmas card.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I think it would be hurtful to say.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? It's a Wonderful Life is really a beautiful movie. I cry every time. Although National Lampoon's Christmas vacation is a hoot! Elf is up there on my list too.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? 3-4 paychecks before Christmas. Every gift we buy is with cash. NO CREDIT!

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I don't think so, but I've encouraged my mom to do so.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Monkey bread on Christmas morning, or (as a side dish with dinner) the canned, ocean spray jellied cranberry sauce.

16. Lights on the tree? White lights and multi lights. My parents had solid red lights on the tree (years ago) and I always thought that was neat.

17. Favorite Christmas song? Angels from the Realms of Glory, I heard the bells on Christmas Day, It came upon the Midnight Clear

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Both, it varies every year.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yes...should I be embarrassed about this?

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Neither, a big bow

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Crowds, and the rudeness it brings out of people.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Mainly just various ornaments, but we fill in with red ball ornaments.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? I'm not picky

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? I would really love for all of us to stay healthy, and no snow, so Mike can be with us throughout the holiday. (and not have to work)

A quote from Natalie

Disclaimer: This post involves a toddler pooping story. Do not read further if you are a wimp or offended by natural bodily functions.

We are trying to get Natalie to poop on the potty. Once she accomplishes this, we can be DONE with pull ups...this will be a big day of celebration!! It may take awhile longer though, she doesn't seem to want to push to go poo when she's on the potty...although she does recognize the feeling of having to go. Yay! Anyway, here is an excerpt from our conversation last night:

Natalie: oh monnie, go poopy!
Me: ok, let's go. (run and sit her on the potty)
Natalie: (making grunting noises but not really pushing) uh oh
Me: Push Natalie--you have to push to go poopy.
Natalie: I push, Monnie...........Uh oh Monnie, it's stuck!! Poopy stuck monnie!!
Me: (turning shades of purple and blue trying not to laugh at her)

Potty training is another area in our lives that has become quite comical. She says so many things that crack us up everyday.
Well, she didn't go on the potty, but we'll get there. I'm so proud of her and how much progress she's made already!

I'm excited!

Mike and I have been married a few weeks shy of 4 years. During this time, we have never had cable t.v. This was a decision we made for ourselves before we were married. We wanted to focus on cultivating our marriage, and keeping costs down. We get 6 channels with our little rabbit ears. Half of them are fuzzy.

We often get a few ads in the mail for decent prices on cable, so I decided to ask around. I was looking for something with 50-75 channels, just to ease us into this. I was amazed with one deal they were offering, so I jumped at it.

On Dec. 17th, this household will have over 200 channels! (for only $10/month more than what we pay for internet/phone) YAY! I cannot even fathom the idea of having that many channels. I was giddy when I told Mike about it. (I believe he actually laughed at my excitement) We have waited a long time for something so "every day" to most people, and I'm glad we waited.

It's the most wonderful

time of the year! We had fun decorating our tree with Natalie this week. She has a section of her own ornaments that she takes off the tree and plays with daily. I have a feeling she'll be upset when it's time to put the tree away. We have a remote control for it that has 4 buttons on it (white lights on/off, color lights on/off) and it's Natalie's job to turn them on everyday. We aren't allowed to do it. LOL

I took a few pictures of my favorite ornaments:

I should take a picture of Cole's love of this tree. Every night he lays on the tree skirt UNDER the tree. I can't get him out from under there until I go upstairs to bed. I need to get our presents under there.

Little Handprint

I found this on our kitchen wall last week. I can't bring myself to clean it!

Side note

Special K Chocolaty Delight hardly tastes chocolaty. Worse, the "chocolate" chunks are the consistency of wax, and not only stick to my teeth, but the roof of my mouth as well!! Not cool, Special K. Not at all.

We had the first snow of the season this morning as well. (well the first snow that stuck) Natalie's reaction? Mike had her look out the window this morning. We were expecting oooh's and aaah's. Instead:

Natalie: Whadda mess!!
Mike: It's snow, Natalie. Isn't it pretty?
Natalie: Yucky! Mess!

So obviously, she isn't impressed yet. Maybe she'll think more of it when we can go play.
