Cardinals Weekend!

Friday evening was spent at Busch Stadium with my family. Cory was able to get us passes (through work) to get on the field before the game to watch the players warm up. We took an elevator down under the stadium, walked through the tunnel up onto the field. It was amazing to be so close! Quite a few of the players (Eckstein, Molina, Taguchi, Schumaker, Spiezio, and Ankiel) were signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans.
Here's the three of us:

Just Mike and I:

Molina signing autographs:

Wouldn't you know it, So Taguchi walked over to us, bent down to Natalie in her stroller and handed her a baseball!!! Later, we got it signed by him, as well as Schumaker. Mike also took some video of Pujols batting; the first one he hit went out of the park. It's impressive to watch.
About to hand Natalie the ball:

Schumaker signing:

We had our family photo taken on the field before we went up to our party room. Natalie chowed down on dinner while cooling off in the a/c. It was a great setup for her to run around in the room, somewhat contained. We left early, our little girl was tuckered.
Here she is carrying around her beloved teddy bears:

Saturday afternoon, we met my family in their hotel room. They had the top floor suite overlooking the stadium (again, compliments of Cory's work) Later, we rode the metro over to union station where we had dinner. We got back to the room in time to watch the rest of the Cards game that night. Natalie enjoyed the fireworks from the window!!
The view:
Cory flew back to LA Sunday, and we spent the evening with Mike's parents, at the last Cards home game. (I forgot my camera!!) Natalie stayed put for about an hour in our seats (better that I expected) and then went on a long walk with Nani and Pop. We left early again with her being so tired, apparently we missed a good ending!
Natalie didn't wake up until almost 11:30 this morning! She must have been catching up on sleep from our busy weekend.

On the Upswing

Natalie is doing better. She still has a junky cough but is otherwise back to normal. Here are a couple pics from this weekend.

Here she's telling me bye bye and trying to unlock the door.

She was also busy reading a book to Cole today:
She is becoming more and more like a sponge. Today she said 4 or 5 new words. Cole, hot, what, pat (and would pat her stomach) and no no. (I wonder where she heard that one from!?) What a fun age!! She is my delight.

Ugh

Natalie has croup. I had no idea how incredibly scary croup attacks were. Unfortunately, now I know. Last night she woke up crying, but no sound except a high squeel. Her cough was terrible, and at this point, I wasn't sure what was going on. I was concerned if she was having trouble breathing, and was debating about whether or not to take her to the ER. My parents were able to fill me in on what was going on...and what to do for her. (thanks guys, sorry for the 1am call)

We saw her pediatrician today, and her lungs and ears are clear. He confirmed she has croup. Her symptoms are much better during the daytime, but again tonight, she was sounding bad before she went to bed. Please keep her in your prayers.

Carousel

Natalie had her first ride on a carousel a couple weeks ago in a local mall. I was so glad she enjoyed it! I think this picture was taken before it started...b/c once it did, no one could get her attention!

Here she is later that day asleep in the stroller:

Playing with grandpa last weekend:

Oh Boy...

This has not been a good week at our house. For starters, I broke my toe! It's a lovely shade of purple and blue...I'd post pictures but I don't want to offend anyone with a weak stomach. You ask how I did this?? I was walking and caught my foot on our lounger. The lounger that is completely padded and covered in fabric. Apparently, my toe is no match for it.

Mike and I carried our old mattress set out to the dumpster tonight. I stepped wrong on my snaggle toe and was hobbling around in the rain, so Mike gave me a piggyback ride back into the house. We were laughing at the whole situation so much he was staggering around, which only made us laugh harder. Our neighbors probably think we're nuts.

Natalie is sick again. Low grade fever, slight cough. She acts normal though and her appetite hasn't been affected. I have to admit, as much as I hate that she's sick, I loooove the extra cuddle time I get with her.

I need to get some new pictures up! I'll have to work on that tomorrow.
Goodnight!

Surgery

Charlotte (our friend's daughter) had open-heart surgery Friday morning, and is now recovering. They will take her off the ventilator Saturday morning. For now, she is sedated and resting well. Thank you for those that prayed for her. Please continue to do so, she has hurdles to jump during her recovery.

Natalie and I had a great time visiting at their home Thursday evening. However, all day on Friday, I was dealing with headaches and queasiness. Mike kept asking me what I was worried about. My symptoms "mysteriously" vanished when I got to talk to Jenn and hear that Charlotte was okay. I guess I was worried sick (literally) about Charlotte.

I know I have no concept as to what that family has been through. I won't even pretend that I understand. However, I empathize b/c I have Natalie. It breaks my heart to know that another mother, like me, has to watch her daughter go through these things. She is such a special little girl, and is the only thing that has been on my mind today. I can't wait to hold her again and watch her grow by leaps and bounds now that this surgery is over!! Natalie will have to get crackin' and teach her some new skills too. :-)

Mike is home safe and sound...and sick of driving. LOL. The interview went well, although we won't know anything for a quite a while. He took lots of pictures of the city, picked up a map, and a few other things for me. I'm glad he's back, Natalie and I missed him!

This is what I caught Natalie doing the other night.

Fun weekend!

Saturday we went to the airshow. The weather was great and the company was great! Natalie enjoyed walking around with Daddy chasing. High: Smiling because I'm in that group called "parents" who all cover their kids ears at the same time when the planes fly by. Low: My sinuses were in an uproar that evening and the next day from all the dust and dirt in the air from the show.

Here we are enjoying the blue angels:

After their show, we were able to meet them. Mike got each of their autographs "for Natalie"

On Sunday my parents arrived! Mom and I took Natalie shopping for a bit that afternoon, then worked on uploading and ordering her pictures of Alaska. Most of them looked like postcards...very beautiful scenery!

I didn't get any pictures from this weekend, although I took a picture (just for you, Emily) of a little "blue ice" my mom brought back from her trip.

Please keep the Hawn's in your prayers this week. Miss "beautiful eyes" Charlotte has her surgery this Friday.
