Update, pictures, and a video!

Thanks to those who were asking how the new mattress was! (I feel so loved) I like it a lot, and more importantly, it likes me too. (no more back pain) Mike hasn't complained about it either, but he could get a good nights sleep on the concrete sidewalk!
Mike has an interview scheduled for next Thursday in Oklahoma. YAY! We are hoping this works out; we think it'd be great for our family. We'll soon find out if God feels the same way. Please keep us all in your prayers.
Now for some recent pictures:
Here is Natalie playing with PlayDoh

This is where I put her when I'm unloading groceries! It keeps her content...and out of things.
BIG kisses for Nani:
Playing with Pop (Cole's favorite buddy):
Rocking in her chair:
This is her bumbo baby seat. We started using it when she was 4 months old, and now she likes it again. She drags it across the room to wherever I'm at, and sits in it. (although she needs help getting out!)
This video was taken a couple weeks ago. She was playing peek a boo with Mike and I.

I've edited the comments options now so anyone can leave a comment. Feel free to let us know what you think!

I should be sleeping...

on our brand new mattress, but I can't! My allergies are acting up and I can't fall asleep. I am waiting on my medicine to kick in so I can rest. *Backing up* We trudged through the mattress shopping and finally picked one we both like. Mike insisted that we buy one right away b/c of my back pain and restless sleep. I wanted to wait until we move out of this house someday (one less thing to haul, right?) but I'm glad he talked me into it. Natalie was such a trooper while we shopped around. We were the only people in the mattress store, so we let her run around. She LOVED it. She was shorter than most of the beds on display, but we could hear her jabbering as she ran. Unlike most stores, there was NOTHING she could get into. Definitely the best indoor playground for a one-year-old.

Mike's dad picked up our mattress today with his truck and helped us get it all set up. I cannot thank him enough!!! Anyone who has talked with me this past week has heard all about my excitement for this new bed.

Natalie came down with a fever Friday night. I took her to the pediatrician Saturday morning (God bless him for working on the weekends!) Her ears and throat looked great, so it was something viral. Our $15 copay is very much worth the peace of mind. (I would've been worried it was an infection otherwise) Her fever got worse (103.7 on Saturday night) but is just about gone now.

Jenn, I'm so glad Charlotte's surgery went well!! I am loving the new pictures you put up on her site. She's still as beautiful as can be!

My Thoughts

1. I feel so blessed to be Mike's wife. I remember (before we married) when it used to be all I ever wanted. Marrying him was the best thing I've ever done.

2. I want to take a Mediterranean cruise someday...just Mike and I.

3. I procrastinate (terribly) when it comes to going to bed. I am a night owl.

4. I love going to our church.

5. I would want 10-12 more kids if $$ wasn't ever a factor.

6. B/c of that, I'll settle for 3 more of our own.

7. Then we still want to adopt (from another country) after we're done having ours.

8. I hate cleaning bathrooms. Especially the floors behind the toilets. How does it get so dirty back there???

9. I miss my grandma terribly. Time is not healing that loss.

10. It hurts when I think that I won't see her again for the rest of my life here on earth.

11. When I do see her again, I can't wait to praise God with her. I think an organ/piano duet will be nice.

12. I often feel guilty that I have a college degree and I'm not using it.

13. Then I remind myself that my current job is the most important one I'll ever have...I can work the rest of my life after my children are grown.

14. Natalie is already growing up too fast!

15. I'll never forget the moment I met Natalie. I was crying so hard; I'd never felt such strong feelings of joy, thankfulness, relief, exhaustion, and pain all at once.

16. I'll also never forget the look on Mike's face when he held her for the first time. I fell in love with him all over again.

17. I think I have a touch of OCD when it comes to washing my hands. (guess that's not a terrible thing)

18. I have a hard time spending $$ on myself. I used birthday money to get a haircut last month. I don't get massages, spa treatments, pedicures, manicures, etc. I never buy shoes (unless necessity), and only get clothes on sale.

19. However, I won't hesitate to get things for Mike or Natalie when they need it.

20. I love Josh Groban's music. His voice is heavenly. I would really like to go to one of his concerts.

21. I'm anxious for the new season of Greys Anatomy. Anyone else??

22. My husband makes me laugh!

23. I am really hoping we will be able to sell our house when the time comes.

24. Natalie is refusing to eat most of her vegetables. Any suggestions??

25. My favorite movie of all time is The Count of Monte Cristo. *also a good book*

26. Mike and I need a new mattress. I'm 24 yrs old and my back hurts every morning when I wake up. I think it's as old as he is.

27. I love playing sudoku before I fall asleep every night.

28. I am grateful Natalie sleeps 12-14 hour nights and has since she was 10 weeks old. I'm preparing for our next child to be a "challenge" :)

29. We have "dog" insurance for Cole. Isn't that ridiculous? However, it's saved us hundreds, if not thousands.

30. This is my favorite picture of Mike and Natalie:

Craft Day

Look what Natalie did!

She did this all on her own, no help needed. I put a pacifier in her mouth while she worked to keep the crayons out! When she was done, she discovered playdoh for the first time. (after I trimmed her fingernails--I'm so glad I remembered to do that!) She really enjoyed the new texture, but it took quite a bit of coaxing to get her to "dive in". I'll see if I can capture some pictures of this tonight, right now my camera batteries are charging.

Mike had a call from the airport in OK. They were confirming he's still interested in the position and will be calling back this week to schedule an interview. YAY! Lately we've talked a lot about different opportunities and things we'd like to see happen for our family. After Natalie goes to bed, we spend 2-3 hours together every night. We really cherish that time!! I write mainly about Natalie on here, b/c lets face it, that's why most of you read this blog! However, there is a lot going on in our lives (as a couple) as well. Thankfully, they are all good things! Can you believe that we have been together for 5 years now?

Natalie and I had another great day together. Her latest trick is to feed Cole treats! This is progress from 2 weeks ago when she'd try to put them in her mouth instead of his! Now we tell him to sit, hand her the doggy-treat, and she'll go put it in his mouth. Earlier today she was picking up a book, sitting down next to Cole, and babbling as she was turning the pages. It really looked like she was reading him a story! She loves to "pretend read" and has done this for quite some time, but this is the first she's read to anyone else.

Natalie's hair is getting longer and thicker! Several people have mentioned it to me, and I've started noticing the changes myself lately. This may not look like much hair to some of you, but believe it or not, this is a LOT more than she's EVER had!! LOL
This was taken 3 months ago....(it actually looks like she has NO hair here, but that's just b/c it's so blonde)
This was taken this week:

My parents just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Saturday! Happy Anniversary to you all! They are escaping the 100-degree heat with a 2 week trip to Alaska...1/2 land, 1/2 cruise. I hope you all are enjoying it!
For now, I'll close with another recent picture:

Doctor Visit

Natalie had her 15 month checkup with her pediatrician today. We discussed some of her allergies that have presented in the past month, her cold last week, and other milestones & developments. She burped loudly as he was examining her, then laughed at herself! She got two shots today, and Natalie didn't even whimper!! That nurse did a great job with her. Doc said she's doing just great, and doesn't need to see her again until she's 2 years old. Her stats:
Weight: 21 lbs 6oz
Length: 31.25 inches

I was fixing us lunch today when I heard this terrible banging noise! I looked over and Natalie had my wire whisk (she had taken it out of the drawer) and was banging it up against the dishwasher door! About five minutes later, I found her underneath her highchair with her paci in her mouth (she had gotten it off the kitchen table) and teddy bear in her hands...just sitting there.

Later tonight, Mike had her laughing when he started "buzzzzing"like a bee. She tries to mock him by making a "mmm" sound.

Another milestone: She is now standing up without needing something to pull up on.

So Happy

I want to shake the hand of the person that invented "room-darkening" shades. Since we installed them in Natalie's room, she has been sleeping FOURTEEN hour nights! She is a little sleeping machine.

ps: This heat can take a hike anytime now.

Interesting Week

Natalie and I packed up our bags and went to JC for six days last week. It was so nice to be home! One of the highlights was visiting with my cousin, Amanda. I think we sat and talked for 3 hours! I enjoyed our visit so much. The rest of the week went by quickly as well. Mom and I took Natalie to the pool on Saturday, and Sunday we went to church. I always look forward to services, esp. when I am home. The friendly, familiar faces are so uplifting, and I enjoy finding out what everyone has been up to. I always wish I could spend more time there.

Sunday night we grilled out at my sister's house. It's always nice when the four of us (siblings) can be together all at one time. This only happens a few times a year...b/c of this, we always try to get a picture of us all together. Then the bunny ears, tickling, hair pulling, and scrunching happen. Ironically, the oldest of the bunch is always the instigator. **ahem ahem**

Monday we visited my grandpa. Dad and I later took Natalie home, while Mom, Cory, and Grandpa went fishing with Jason. Apparently Mom caught one of the biggest bass anyone has pulled out of that lake! The guys were beside themselves...then she caught an even bigger one just to rub their noses in it. Dad and I were starting to roll our eyes at her "fish stories" when she showed us the picture to prove it.
Tuesday we noticed that Natalie had a runny nose, and wasn't her usual, perky self. That night was the longest night of my life. (I'm sure it was worse for her) She was up and down all night, and when she woke again at 4 am, she had 101.8 fever. Poor babe was so miserable. I got 45 minutes of sleep that night. When she finally did sleep, I was up worrying about her. Grandma came in our room to offer support too. Once a mother, always a mother. (Thanks for your help, was nice not to have to worry alone) On the upside, this was the very first time she has ever been sick. She will be 15 months old on the 8th of Aug. I can't complain.

Wednesday is the day Natalie and I came home. The car ride was long, she was not feeling well (all of us were tired) but we got here safe and sound. I enjoyed watching Natalie see her daddy and best buddy Cole, for the first time in 6 days. She has spent a lot of time cuddling with Daddy since we've been here.

Wednesday-Sunday have been a blur. We inflated an air mattress in our livingroom and spent a couple nights out there with her. As of today, she is SO much better. Appetite is back to normal, she is getting into everything again and keeping us busy. Throughout this ordeal she has had little interest in her bottle so as of today, we're done with those!
Mike's family is taking Brad back to school this week. Have a safe trip, and we'll be looking forward to seeing you when you get back! (You'll be amazed at how skilled Natalie is at walking now!)
